If there was no death in the world!

Since time immemorial man has been trying to conquer death and become immortal. Modern day medicines are getting powerful by the day and prolonging our life. If indeed, we banish death from this world, life will become interesting as well as boring. As a matter of fact, I believe we will be bored to death!

Many of the expressions we use on a daily basis will become redundant. The human race will become increasingly confusing. Let me explain.

If we continue to age as we do now but just stop dying, it will be like driving towards a traffic signal and suddenly the signal turning red forever. It will be like the entire human race jammed at a traffic signal. If aging does makes us wise, we will be a wise world!

I can no longer tell anybody to go to hell, I can no longer say I will kill you… I cannot promise and say that “cross my heart and hope to die”. Police will no longer carry guns, world will have no weapons of mass destruction, there will be no more hangings, no suicide bombers, planes will crash but people will still walk out of the crash and go about their business. Google will not return any results when we search for death!

Bollywood movies will no longer have death scenes and there will be no reincarnation (Punar janam) movies. There will be no ghosts or haunted houses. Jobs like coffin maker, hangman etc. will no longer exist. Court will no longer have verdicts of “hang till death”.  There won’t be any death certificates. Nobody will be on the death bed. Lord Yama will become jobless.

Students will no longer be given topics like “if you were the last person on earth”, philosophers will stop asking questions like “what happens after death?”, newspapers will no longer carry screaming topics like “1000 dead in Tsunami”.

With my little understanding about the human nature, I am positive that in an immortal world many geniuses amongst us will be researching on topics on how we can die.

My salute to human race!
